For everyone saying the instructions were bad....okay, they weren't great. But if you can figure out that the base is rectangular (hint: the saw housing is rectangular), then you will be able to figure out which cross members span between each of the legs. Also, most people didn't just hand-tighten the nuts, set the frame upright, put a force across the top to allow everything to reposition, and then tighten. The instructions only take one so far. Common sense should allow for the rest. This took me 45 min and there's no reason it should take longer.

I actually like this saw a lot. For those who say it's not Contractor Grade, well, I am not going to be using it for that. It's for home projects.

If anyone has this saw and has figured out a fix/upgrade for the slop in the miter bar in the miter guide I would sure be interested.  Those 2 taps and all the slop in the fit between the bar and the guide are a huge pain in trying to get precise 90 degree cuts.  Anyone have any improvement ideas for this problem?

Put this model together today in about 2 hours. Instructions were ok,, but not stellar. Got the knife put in, and debating if I even want to use the kickback pawls or that plastic guard. I am liking the fence, the outfeed support, and the extension wings. Building a crosscut sled will require cutting off the 8 tabs that are designed for the miter gauge. I prefer a sled for miters and crosscuts. All in all, I am happy with this saw so far.

I have the older model (248830) - it is. I blew the fuse and no one from sears or craftsman has an ounce of anything in how to help me other than to lug the thing in.  Gone are the days of "oh yeah, here's the part, it goes in like this." So mad.

Hi, I'm having trouble with the brace for the wheels. This video skips over finishing the middle braces. The last long brace piece doesn't line up/fit over the square slot in the end of the legs so I can't put bolts through. Any idea what I did wrong? Is it possible to use the wrong piece for the middle tier? The two long cross brace pieces look the same. The distance on the brace piece between the end of the piece and the slot, is different from the distance from the inside corner of the leg to the slot on the leg. The two slots are not overlapping.

Great for basic cutting of plywood and beginner projects. Not super accurate and fence is almost non-adjustable. The miter slots are smaller than standard and have annoying tabs that I ground off. If you don't, you can forget about making and using any sled that uses the miter slots. You are also forced to make your own rails for your sled. I have owned this for about 4 1/2 years and really wish I would have spent a bit more money.

I bought this saw to replace an older less capable one, which I sold at a yard sale. I left it in the box for almost 2 months before I needed it, and reluctantly started to unpack and assemble it. With assembly instructions, you never know what you're going to get. The instructions with this model are horrible! They reference part numbers that have never been labeled in the book! along with poor pictures. I am going to take my laptop to the shop and follow along to put this together. I'll post.

I wish there would have been some sound, and directions. I had trouble putting the bottom part of the stand together because the parts were so much alike, and the manual was little help in helping me identify the parts. I must have taken it apart a zillion times, and had fallen back on my favorite source for help, YouTube, and the two video I have seen so far have been of little help. I hope people who make video realize some of use need to hear the directions, as well as see how to do it. I do appreciate all of those many people who go to the trouble to make videos and share. Thank you.
