Your suggestion to temporarily use a computer fan was brilliant! I used one from a spare computer and it worked great, saving my refrigerated food while waiting for the correct fan to arrive. Thank you!
Thank you so much for posting this video. Your model of refrigerator is exactly the same as mine. I got a professional to come and fix, since the fridge was not cooling. After spending $399. for him to replace the main circuit board, and having to wait over a week for another appointment for somebody perhaps a bit more competent, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I found your video and you gave me the confidence to take on the job myself. I am most grateful for your contribution. I have only two suggestions: 1. It would help if you had your camera person aim the camera more closely to where you are working and 2. I had a great deal of difficulty getting the motor wires out of the wire harness. I ended up breaking it attempting to get the wires out without breaking it. To this day, I have no idea how those wires are threaded into that harness. I hope you don't ever have to do this repair again, but if you do, show us how to do that. And, by the way, the fan I took out is a very cheap, off brand fan made by a Chinese company called AVC. Nowhere on that unit is there anything that indicates that it is a GE part. The fridge is only 4 years old. I hope the replacement fan that I purchased, that says it is a genuine GE part lasts longer. Thank you again. You have performed an genuinely useful service.
LIFE SAVER!!!! THANK YOU!!
Thanks bro. I had an intermittent issue that ended up being the board in the top of the dispenser door. A company replaced it. After that I got warnings about the fridge not getting below 50° and then my water dispenser stopped working and I had no ice.
My fan had the same issue, ended up removing it and it was almost completely seized, applied HD wd40 to the fan and gained easy mobility, tested it on the fridge and worked like a charm, will install it while I wait for a replacement (upgraded) fan from Amazon, I found the OG fan only has 3 blades compared to the upgraded fans woth 7+ blades, not sure if thay will cause any malfunctions. Thanks for you video you are a life saver!
Thanks for posting this. I was charged $400 for this fix and now the fan is working, but started making noise two months later!!!
Thanks for the video! You may need a hair dryer if you have as much ice as I did. I also had the water hose to the ice maker freeze. It thawed out as I was fixing the fridge and it is all working now.
Encountered similar issue. Looked at the fresh food fan and it was stuck, unable to turn. Ordered a new one (which could take up to 4 weeks before been received) and in the mean time bought a CPU fan which I use as a temporary replacement. You're video really help and confirmed my suspicion. Many thanks friend!
Thanks for the video. This helped me fix my fridge.
Thanks for posting this. Had an old pc fan laying around that I was able to MacGyver up to hold us over until the replacement fan shows up!
Thank you so much Jeff!!
Thx for detailed video.
Thanks pal! On my way to the job suite with a stock fan replacement part in hand.
Thank you so much Jeff!
Do you have the part#? Thank you
Thanks for the video. I have your same fridge but my problem is that both the fridge and freezer are warm. Replacing the fridge compressor fan didn’t work. does this mean it could be the compressor or motherboard?
